Here is a poem I've been working on. A few weeks ago, I had one of those moments where time stands still and something important (an idea, a memory, a feeling) announces itself. In that moment, I had a strong sense that my time with my children is short -- that soon, they will be out into the world beyond our little family. I felt a sense of urgency to do my best for them during these fleeting years, and to give them room to become themselves even as I try to mold them into kind, thoughtful, resilient little people. The following poem tries to capture all this.
